The important role of independent media

Independent and impartial journalistic reporting is important for overseeing the work of those in power. Journalists from the public television RTV Slovenia have revealed the corruption deals of the current government. People applauded them in gratitude.

Thousands of people are cycling through Slovenia's capital Ljubljana every Friday to protest against the new right-wing government. Prime minister Janša is attempting to increase police powers, inciting hatred against migrants, and making personal attacks on journalists.
